Group Programs

Progressive Steps group programs use evidence-based interventions to teach skills in a safe & supportive environment and are supervised by a Registered Behaviour Analyst.

Unless other specified, all of our group are held at the Progressive Life Centre in Ajax, ON

Steps to Register for PSTC Group Programs

  1.  Email admin@progressivesteps.ca for the intake form

  2. Complete and return the intake form

  3. Book a screening/orientation meeting with the Senior Supervised Therapist (Caregiver and participant must attend)

  4. Pay for Services

  5. Wait to receive a Welcome Letter with group details

  6. Join the group!

Group Meeting

ACTion Seekers is an innovative group program that empowers teenagers to develop essential life skills through the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In a supportive and engaging environment, participants learn valuable strategies for managing emotions, clarifying personal values, and building psychological flexibility. This evidence-based program helps teens navigate life's challenges while fostering personal growth, self-awareness, and meaningful connections with peers. Perfect for adolescents looking to enhance their emotional toolbox and develop practical skills for everyday success.

Brain Hacks is a dynamic, teen-focused group program that empowers participants to master essential executive functioning skills. Through interactive and collaborative learning, teenagers develop practical strategies for organization, time management, prioritizing, planning, problem-solving, and self-management. Our evidence-based approach ensures each participant gains valuable tools they can immediately apply to academic, social, and daily life challenges. Perfect for teens looking to strengthen their executive functioning abilities in an engaging, supportive environment

Ages: 11 - 17

This program teaches teens essential skills for safely cooking and preparing meals, fostering independence and confidence in the kitchen. Participants will learn about kitchen safety, meal planning, and basic cooking techniques through hands-on activities and guided instruction.

When: Tuesdays from 5 - 6:30pm

Runs For: 10 weeks

Ages: 12 - 17

Prerequisite: Completion of PEERS for Adolescents 

Fitness

This small group program is designed to teach teens how to safely and effectively use gym equipment while learning proper gym etiquette. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants will become familiar with various types of gym equipment and learn the basics of a balanced workout routine.

When: Wednesdays from 5 - 6pm

Runs For: 10 weeks

Ages: 11 - 17

Friendship Explorers Club is an engaging, ABA-based group program where school-aged children discover the joy of meaningful social connections. Through evidence-based curricula including Socially Savvy, Children's Friendship Currently and Connects Curriculum, participants develop essential social skills, emotional regulation strategies, and lasting friendships in a supportive group environment. Our experienced facilitators guide children as they build confidence, practice peer interactions, and develop the social tools they need to thrive in school and beyond.

When: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:30pm

Our Girls' Group is a supportive and empowering program designed specifically for young women to build confidence, develop meaningful friendships, and navigate social dynamics in a safe, understanding environment. Through engaging activities and guided discussions, participants explore topics like self-expression, emotional wellness, social relationships, and personal growth. This specialized group provides a comfortable space where girls can share experiences, develop social skills, and form lasting connections with peers who understand their journey.

Job Interview

Job Tips is a practical, skill-building program designed to empower individuals with the essential tools needed for workplace success. Through structured learning and real-world scenarios, participants develop crucial employment skills including interview preparation, workplace communication, time management, and professional etiquette. Our evidence-based teaching strategies helps individuals build confidence, understand workplace expectations, and master the fundamental skills needed to secure and maintain meaningful employment. Perfect for those looking to enter the workforce or enhance their current employment skills in a supportive, understanding environment.

Ages: 15 - 18

Diversity Students

This evidence-based group focuses on teaching essential social skills needed to build and sustain meaningful friendships. Participants will engage in structured activities designed to enhance their social interactions, followed by dedicated gaming time to practice and apply these skills in a fun, interactive environment. Parent training sessions are also available at an additional cost.

Filling the Shopping Basket

Real-World Ready is an innovative program designed to equip participants with essential life skills for independent living and community integration. Through hands-on learning and practical experiences, individuals develop crucial abilities in money management, community navigation, personal safety, and daily living skills. Our structured 7-week curriculum combines interactive workshops with real-world practice, helping participants build confidence and competence in handling everyday situations. Perfect for those seeking to enhance their independence and successfully navigate life's practical challenges in a supportive, understanding environment.

When: Thursdays from 6:30 - 8pm

Runs For: 7 weeks

Ages: 12 - 17

Train

This evidence-based program helps teens develop crucial social, community, and transit skills through engaging community outings. Participants will have hands-on experiences to practice and refine their abilities in real-world settings. A minimum registration of 4 weeks is required.

Next Group Starts: May 10, 2025

When: Saturdays from 11am - 3pm

*select outings will run from 11am - 4pm

Runs For: 7 weeks

Ages: 11 - 17

Prerequisite: Completion of, or enrollment, in PEERS for Adolescents OR a full block of Friendship Explorer Club
